Townies look out–Race Townie gets pulled apart for an overhaul

This is no electra townie bike. We pulled this race townie apart to its ‘almost’ bare frame. Some snags were met as one crank arm did not want to pull off properly–its threads came out, but the arm stayed. Ahh, townies – you never know what to expect. This townie bicycle will come back from the paint shop in a sharp new color. The color will make electra bikes squeamish.

This townie is being built up for a friend. Some notable parts to be included on this townie bicycle are the Judy forks which still work pretty well (we will assess whether or not to get them rigid when we build up), avid v-brakes, and hopefully the specialized crank arms. We will pick up a nice cruiser seat–maybe from electra bikes–or maybe a nirve of brooks, and we will style it with some comfortable grips.

Probably the most characteristic part on this race townie will be the end of bar shifter which you can see in the video. This townie will have six to eight gears in the rear and the end of bar shifter will ensure this townie moves faster than most other townies.

Electra bikes are sleek and comfortable. The Race Townie is built for speed.
